Amplifying Your Music Experience: StarNews
Build My Tech was approached by StarNews, a Nigerian music industry client, who requested the development of a website, web app, and mobile subscription landing pages to establish their foothold in the industry. In this case study, we will discuss how we brought the project to life with our methodologies and skills.
Methodology
Our approach to this project involved several key steps, which are outlined below.
Competitor Study
We began by conducting a comprehensive competitor study by identifying the direct competitors in the Nigerian music industry, specifically those who provide a platform concept similar to the one we intended to launch. We analyzed their offers by taking a close look at their features and services, the platform’s user flow, design, navigation, etc. We also evaluated their pricing strategies and subscription models. We identified the latest marketing trends in the region, including new technologies, emerging artists, and changes in consumer behavior.
Market Study
Next, we conducted a comprehensive market study by researching the demographics, psychographics, and music preferences of the target audience. We understood the behavior of Nigerian music consumers, including how they discover, listen to, and interact with music. We studied the region's industry regulations, including copyright laws, licensing requirements, and digital distribution regulations. We identified the preferred platforms and website designs there.
UI/ UX Trend Analysis
Moreover, we focused on user interface and user experience trends to define our user persona. This helped us design a platform that meets their specific needs and preferences. We developed the platform user’s flow that maps out the journey the user will navigate. We created low-fidelity wireframes that lay out the basic structure of the StarNews website, web app, and landing pages, including the placement of buttons, menus, and other design elements. We designed the visual interface of the platform, including the color scheme, typography, and visual design elements that were inspired by Star News’s brand guidelines. We made sure that the design is consistent with the client’s brand identity. We finalized the design and implemented it into the platform.

We allocated resources to the project by defining the goals and objectives to establish a timeline for completing the project.
We determined the budget we have available for this project and built a team with the necessary skills and expertise to develop as well as maintain the platform.
We set due dates for every development phase, including planning, coding, testing, debugging, etc.
Planning & Strategy
We developed comprehensive planning and strategy to highlight the unique selling proposition of StarNews. We formulated the platform to be user-friendly, easy to navigate, that offer a seamless music listening experience to the users. We decided on all the features that will be available, including sign-in and sign-up, profile, celebrity channels that consist of music and video channels, user feedback for the artists, music live stream, and celebrity events calendar. We prepared all the copyrighting content for the above sections and for the landing pages.
Development
We created a responsive and intuitive user interface that could support all the features and functionalities required by the client. The front end was built using the latest web development technologies, and we paid particular attention to the aesthetics, ensuring that the design was visually appealing and aligned with the client's branding guidelines. We rigorously tested the front end to ensure that it was compatible with all modern browsers and devices and optimized for performance and usability. Overall, we aimed to deliver a seamless and engaging user experience that would keep the users engaged and facilitate their interaction with the platform.
During the development process, we utilized a variety of technologies and programming languages to build the StarNews platform.
